Talk about divine intervention.

An Ohio bus driver can thank the words of God for saving his life Monday after he was shot at three times — but two of the bullets were stopped by a contemporary version of the Bible the man had in his front chest pocket.

Rickey Wagoner, 49, had to stop his Dayton city bus around 5:20 a.m. Monday after an electrical problem. When he pulled over to the curb to investigate, three goons approached the driver and blasted away.

"I've been hit in the leg," Wagoner told an emergency dispatcher, the Dayton Daily News reported. "My chest feels like I've been hit with a sledgehammer."

But Wagoner will likely survive after a copy of “The Message,” a contemporary version of the New Testament, stopped two shots. He was also hit in the hip.

In the natural, every day, we get thirsty. Water is what we need to sustain life. When we are out in the heat or exerting our bodies physically, even more water is required to keep us hydrated and functioning optimally. Spiritually, we need water every day, too. We need to refresh our hearts and minds as much as we need to refresh our bodies. Jesus said, “I am the Living Water. If you drink of Me, you will never thirst again.” During the day, we all have things that come against us spiritually. We all feel the heat, so to speak. It’s easy to get upset or stressed out, but that’s when you need to take a two-minute break and go drink of the Living Water. Get quiet and say, “God, I need You. I’m asking You, God, to help me stay strong. Help me to stay in peace.” Remember, Jesus is the only one who can truly satisfy your inner thirst. Turn to Him, receive from Him, and you will find rest and refreshing for your soul. Anytime you need to, just take a drink!

What kind of world do we live in, where Elementary School children are gunned down because of one mans vendetta? Parents of students of the Connecticut school Sandy Hook Elementary are weeping after suspect Ryan Lanza opened fire on groups of adolescents, killing approximately 20 kids and bringing the death toll to 27. Apparently the gunman, who also murdered a member of his family before going on the rampage, was after his mother. She worked in the school as a teacher. She is among the dead.

President Obama held back tears as he gave a heart-felt speech. “We’ve endured too many of these tragedies in the past few years. Each time I learn the news I react not as a president but as anybody else would as a parent. That was especially true today,” he said in the official press conference. “Our hearts are broken today for the parents and grandparents, sisters and brothers of these children and the families of the adults we lost. As a country, we have been through this too many times. This evening Michelle and I will do what every parent in America will do – hug our children a little tighter and tell them that we love them,” he continued.

The shooter’s body was left in a classroom. The children’s ages range from 5-10 years old. Our hearts are deeply saddened by this massacre. We send our prayers to the family and friends devastated by this tragedy.
