6 Faint-Worthy Men Olivia Pope Should Leave Fitz For...!

0

ABC's "Scandal" - Season TwoThe Olivia and Fitz love story has to be one of the greatest sitcom love affairs since Carrie and Big from “Sex And The City.” It’s the story you really don’t want to cheer for. You’re totally mad that you even support this type of foolery (I mean, she is the side chick) but the love is so grand and you know wholeheartedly what it feels like to have lip quivers the moment he utters those three words you wish he would have never said out loud.

Because their love affair is epically wrong, I feel obligated to do my best friend duties and hook Olivia up with someone better. Preferably a Black man, although I am secretly rooting for Jake! Here’s my picks for who Olivia should dump Fitz for!

Idris Elba Prince's Trust Celebrate Success Awards - Arrivals

1. Idris Elba

There are very clear and obvious reasons why Idris is number one on my list. Mainly because he is just simply gorgeous! He should totally play a very uptight British politician who Olivia helps through a big sex scandal. Let’s imagine he has a habit that I personally would love to support him through!

Jay Ellis 2013 BET Awards - P&G Red Carpet Style Stage

2. Jay Ellis

A “Scandal” moment for this newcomer would be a huge upgrade. His new role on BET’s “The Game” doesn’t seem challenging enough for him. I vote we (Shonda and I) cast Jay as Harrison’s old buddy that Olivia falls for. There’s so much to build on this storyline since we don’t know much about Harrison at all. Perhaps the two did a stint in prison together and Harrison is indebted to Jay.

Blair Underwood ABC's "Dirty Sexy Money" - File Photos

3. Blair Underwood

When we were first introduced to Olivia’s love interest, Edison, I was offended. Norm Lewis is probably a really great guy and an amazing actor–for someone else. Olivia’s new guy should be powerful, seasoned, and most importantly dark and delish. Blair embodies all of those characteristics and would serve as some much-needed competition for Fitz.

Michael Ealy Montblanc Presents The 3rd Annual 24 Hour Plays In Los Angeles

4. Michael Ealy

Those blue eyes trump everything amazing about Fitz, including his sultry stare. Michael should play someone in law enforcement. Perhaps David’s days are numbered and someone takes him out. Michael could be the new District Attorney.

Borris kodjoe "Baggage Claim" - Los Angeles Premiere

5. Boris Kodjoe

Boris is just eye candy to me. I never really hear anything he says nor do I ever laugh at any of his corny jokes on “The Real Husbands Of Hollywood.” In this new season I predict that Olivia is going to be super stressed. I mean, she totally got caught with her hand in the cookie jar and now the government’s Illumunati is out to snatch her life away! If it were me, I’d need to find a bedroom buddy! Insert Boris.

Columbus Short ABC's "Scandal" - Season Two

6. Columbus Short

So I have this theory that could seriously be all wrong, but hear me out. I’m thinking that the only reason Olivia isn’t really “fixing” (insert multiple winks and a firm shoulder nudge) Harrison is because they’re siblings. Now perhaps I am wrong. Which happens! Harrison needs to make the move on Olivia–like right now. The President has confessed his love, his wife has gone public, and America is on Liv’s tail. A Harrison save-me-now moment is so necessary.

I know I am totally dreaming because in real life on TV, Fitz and Olivia will live happily ever after and make adorable half-bred babies that will rule the world. I know it! But if you could have your way, who would Olivia leave Fitz for?

CONSPIRACY THEORY: Miriam Carey’s Postpartum-Induced White House Crash Just Doesn’t Add Up!!!

0

miriam-carey

“Shots Fired at Capitol Hill” was stamped boldly on the TV screen yesterday and immediately I felt something wasn’t quite right. I sat frozen at my desk, typing away at the details of the attack on Capitol Hill At first, all we knew was that there were shots fired and they were heard around the Hart Sen. Building. Then little by little, we were fed more details. Fingers crossed, I hoped the person wasn’t Black. A few more details later, there was a car chase, starting from a crash into the White House barricade, striking officers and ending near the Capitol, where the suspect was shot and killed. There was a child in the car, Miriam’s one-year-old daughter, Erica. Again, something doesn’t feel quite right.

A few more details later, it’s a woman, then a mother, then finally, a Black woman. Ouch. Maybe I’m partial, but now I am convinced, this just ain’t right. I am an admitted conspiracy theorist and I instantly felt this was what many career theorists call a “False Flag.” My two theories on this are either Miriam is causing anational distraction from the government shutdown or exciting a riot based on the government shutdown’s effects to the American people. I know, these both sound off-the-wall, but most conspiracy theories are.

Carey’s former boss, Barry Weiss of Advanced Periodontics in Hamden, CT has called her “hot tempered,” and claims that Miriam suffered a head injury that landed her in the hospital, where she found out she was pregnant. Carey was then fired from Advanced Periodontics because of her sour attitude, right after giving birth to her daughter. These issues may have piled on to Carey’s shoulders, fueling her postpartum.

The authorities are blaming Carey’s actions onpostpartum depression. I am no expert in this topic, nor do I know the full extent of its effects, but we’ve all heard the awful stories ending in children being drowned, burned or beaten to death at the hands of a postpartum suffering mother. Carey’s mother, Idella Carey told ABC News, “She had postpartum depression after having the baby [last August]. A few months later, she got sick. She was depressed. … She was hospitalized.”

When a woman’s fed up, there’s nothing you can do about it. But when a woman is broken, tragedy ensues. Miriam worked as a dental hygienist in Stamford, CT. The people who know Miriam best, knew that she was depressed, but they were all shocked to know the full extent of her mental illness. Miriam’s sister told Washington Post, “That’s impossible. She works, she holds a job. She wouldn’t be in D.C. She was just in Connecticut two days ago, I spoke to her. . . . I don’t know what’s happening. I can’t answer any more.”

Dr. Stephen Oken, Miriam’s boss for over eight years made the statement, “I would never in a million years believe that she would do something like this. It’s the furthest thing from anything I would think she would do, especially with her child in the car. I am floored that it would be her.”

It doesn’t make sense to someone close to Miriam and it doesn’t make sense to me–a complete stranger who watched it all unfold on TV. No one around Miriam knew why she would drive to Washington, D.C. to attempt to crash into the White House. Reports claim that Miriam was never one to rant about politics, so these extreme actions that ended in her death, just don’t make sense.

The whole thing reads like a script from a newTyler Perry film, “Madea Takes On Washington.” Tyler’s wig-wearin’ character would have done something this absurdly bold–driving up to the White House with the intentions of setting it off because her WIC was cut off, only be a part of a crazy car chase. In Tyler’s movie, Madea would have had her gun in tow and she wouldn’t have died, she would have pistol-whipped a fast-talking cop or two and possibly even gave one of them a whooping.

But this is no comedy. This is real life. Or so they want us to think. Miriam is dead, so there is no questioning her motives. There’s only Capitol Hill police who are heroes because they took out a threat. Was Miriam so impacted by the government shutdown that she wanted to act on it? Was she so broken by postpartum, she just snapped?

Why would someone with no weapon attempt to crash into the White House? While protecting the president’s residence is a top priority, I would think knowing why this person did what they did and better yet, learning more about this attacker was more important that appearing heroic for killing her.

But now that Miriam’s dead, we’re only left with questions that will never be answered. So for now, we’re just going to allow the media to label her a terrorist and leave it at that. I’m not buying it. Are you? Let’s chat @TLMSHOW

Muhammad Ali appears at humanitarian event..!

Muhammad Ali blurb

Appearing very frail, boxing legend Muhammad Ali made a rare public appearance Thursday at an event in his hometown to pay homage to others for their humanitarian work.

Former President Jimmy Carter, music artists and young leaders of groups helping the underprivileged were among those honored at the inaugural Muhammad Ali Humanitarian Awards in Louisville.

Even though he was barely able to whisper a word, Ali posed for pictures and participated in presenting the awards.

"This is really about his legacy and extending that legacy to others and inspiring them and encouraging them to do the kinds of work that now he cannot always do himself," Ali's wife, Lonnie Ali, said at the gala.

While Parkinson's disease has robbed the three-time world heavyweight champion of many of the traits he once treasured in the ring -- the speed, wit and charisma that made him one of the most famous sports figures in recent history -- he has never retreated from public life.

'His head is still there'

"People always feed bad when they see my dad, and I feel bad because he has Parkinson's disease and it's hard for him to get around, but he is happy," said his daughter Laila Ali, who retired undefeated as a super middle weight champion. "His head is still there, and all we can do is keep loving him and supporting him even though it's never easy to watch."

Recipients of the Muhammad Ali Humanitarian Awards included 22-year-old Tanvi Girotra of India, who leads a global youth organization that seeks to combat sex trafficking and empower women.

Walking along the red carpet to greet Ali, 71, was 15-year-old Nick Lowinger of Rhode Island, who began outreach work with homeless people at the age of 5.

Lowinger was recognized for his foundation, which provided shoes to more than 10,000 homeless and disadvantaged children in 21 states.

"Nobody had to asked them to do it, they recognized the need and they jumped to action just to recognize that somebody needed something," said Lonnie Ali.

Carter, who turned 89 on Tuesday, was singled out for a lifetime achievement award. The 39th U.S. president was unable to attend, so his son James "Chip" Carter accepted the award.

Pop stars recognized

Pop singer Christina Aguilera received the humanitarian of the year award for her work on global hunger relief, while her fellow recording artist Michael Bolton was honored for his work promoting gender equality.

The awards were established in conjunction with Ali's core principles of conviction, dedication and giving, which are illustrated at the Muhammad Ali Center, a museum that also chronicles his epic boxing matches, the struggle for racial equality and his conscientious objection to the Vietnam War that eventually cost him his titles and millions of dollars in endorsements.

Over the past four decades, Ali has visited more than 100 countries, providing humanitarian assistance and at times mediating in international disputes, notably in situations where U.S. citizens were held captive in Iran and Iraq.

"He has a body of work he has done traveling the globe, helping others by bringing assistance and aid to those who are in need," said Lonnie Ali. "And he wants to extend that part of life to others by recognizing their support and serving as an encouragement."

While Parkinson's disease has taken a severe toll on Ali, his wife says his commitment to social justice has not wavered.

"Every day he gets up with a smile in his face and looks forward to whatever the day brings," she said. "He doesn't let things stop him and he does as much as he can every day and he still finds meaning in life."

rihanna-for-glamour-november-2013

Rihanna covers Glamour Magazine‘s November 2013 issue sporting fresh curls and a fierce smokey cat eye. Inside the magazine, the 25-year-old insists that she isn’t into partying much these days, both in and out of the bedroom. “I am such a bootleg rock star,” she told the publication of her sex life. “I do nothing. I’m embarrassed to say that actually. That’s so disgusting. It’s pathetic. I’m a bit of a square.”

She adds, “Don’t feel bad for me, I’m good.”

Her Instagram sure looks like she’s a rockstar. But wait, didn’t you think this was Joseline Hernadez for like 2.6 seconds. Oh no, just me! Doubt it... Lol!!

Jay Z: Blue Ivy Is My Biggest Fan + 8 More Quotes From His Vanity Fair Issue..!!

0

jay-z-vanity-fair

A dapper Jay Z covers Vanity Fair’s November issue in a white and black tux (styled by June Ambrose) and charming grin. His distinguished swag radiates from the glossy page. We’ve come to expect that from Hov, whose empire grows with each tick of his Roley. In the last few years,Jay became a parent with wife Beyonce, collaborated with Kanye West to deliver one of the decades most groundbreaking albums and launched Roc Nation Sports among other ventures. And slowing down is not in the blueprint.

Jay opened up to Vanity Fair contributing about his days selling product in Marcy projects’ hallways. Crack was inescapable, but instead off becoming a zombie to the drug, he used it to help his mother pay bills and buy clothes for himself. His rags-to-riches story is the crux of the interview, followed by heartfelt stories about Blue Ivy and how he wooed Beyonce.

1. The Ultimate Choice

“She [Blue] does like her mother’s music—she watches [Beyoncé’s concerts] on the computer every night. But my album came out and I don’t know if Blue ever heard any of my music prior to this album—she’s only 18 months old and I don’t play my music around the house. But this album was new, so we played it. And she loves all the songs. She plays a song and she goes, ‘More, Daddy, more . . . Daddy song.’ She’s my biggest fan. If no one bought the “Magna Carta”, the fact that she loves it so much, it gives me the greatest joy. And that’s not like a cliché. I’m really serious. Just to see her—‘Daddy song, more, Daddy.’ She’s genuine, she’s honest, because she doesn’t know it makes me happy. She just wants to hear it.”

2. President Obama Inspired Him

“Actually renewed my spirit for America. It was like, Oh, wow, man, this whole thing about land of the free, home of the . . . it’s, like, real—it’s going to happen, everyone’s getting to participate in it. But growing up, if you had ever told a black person from the hood you can be president, they’d be like, I could never . . . If you had told me that as a kid, I’d be like, Are you out of your mind? How?”

3. Drug Dealing Prepared Him For Roc Nation Sports

“I know about budgets. I was a drug dealer,” he tells Robinson. “To be in a drug deal, you need to know what you can spend, what you need to re-up. Or if you want to start some sort of barbershop or car wash—those were the businesses back then. Things you can get in easily to get out of [that] life. At some point, you have to have an exit strategy, because your window is very small; you’re going to get locked up or you’re going to die.”

4. He Actually Started From the Bottom

“We were living in a tough situation, but my mother managed; she juggled. Sometimes we’d pay the light bill, sometimes we paid the phone, sometimes the gas went off. We weren’t starving—we were eating, we were O.K. But it was things like you didn’t want to be embarrassed when you went to school; you didn’t want to have dirty sneakers or wear the same clothes over again.”

5. Falling Subject To Selling Crack

“Crack was everywhere—it was inescapable. There wasn’t any place you could go for isolation or a break. You go in the hallway; [there are] crackheads in the hallway. You look out in the puddles on the curbs—crack vials are littered in the side of the curbs. You could smell it in the hallways, that putrid smell; I can’t explain it, but it’s still in my mind when I think about it.”

“Not until later, when I realized the effects on the community. I started looking at the community on the whole, but in the beginning, no. I was thinking about surviving. I was thinking about improving my situation. I was thinking about buying clothes.”

6. Who Charmed Who?

If I’m as cool as I am, yes. But she’s a charming Southern girl, you know, she’s not impressed. . . . But I would have definitely had to be this cool.” Jay confirms that the line on his latest album, “She was a good girl ’til she knew me” is about Beyoncé, and when Robinson asks if she’s not a good girl anymore, Jay laughs, saying, “Nah. She’s gangsta now.”

7. Not Bothered By The Surragacy Rumors

“I don’t even know how to answer that. It’s just so stupid. You know, I felt dismissive about it, but you’ve got to feel for her. I mean, we’ve got a really charmed life, so how can we complain? But when you think about it, we’re still human beings. . . . And even in hip-hop, all the blogs—they had a field day with it. I’m like, We come from you guys, we represent you guys. Why are you perpetuating this? Why are you adding fuel to this ridiculous rumor?”

8. You Will Not Name Your Child Blue Ivy

“People wanted to make products based on our child’s name,” he says, “and you don’t want anybody trying to benefit off your baby’s name. It wasn’t for us to do anything; as you see, we haven’t done anything.”

9. Rapper For Life

“I know I said I wouldn’t be doing it when I was 30,” he tells Robinson, “so that’s how I know I love it. Thirty years old was my cutoff, but I’m still here, 43 years old.”
