Rihanna has donated $1.75 million to a hospital in Barbados in memory of her late grandmother. The singer’s Clara Lionel Foundation named for her now-deceased grandparents Clara and Lionel Brathwaite recently contributed three pieces of equipment worth more than $1.75 million to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in her hometown Barbados.
The hospital’s radiotherapy unit was renamed to Clara Braithwaite Center for Oncology and Nuclear Medicine after Rihanna’s grandmother “Gran Gran Dolly,” who died in June.
This was my way of giving back to Barbados, in a form of philanthropy by assisting the QEH in its continued modernization program…I believe that this will have a huge impact on the people of Barbados. This was all done to save lives or at least extend them,” the singer said in a statement to E! News.
RiRi got a tribute chest tattoo to honor her late “Gran Gran Dolly” three months after she passed away.
