Charlize Theron and Seth MacFarlane

A friendly dinner between co-workers or a romantic dinner a deux? More than a month after they first brushed off hookup rumors, Charlize Theron and Seth MacFarlane were snapped exiting Beverly Hills restaurant Matsuhisa on Monday night.
The statuesque Oscar winner looked less than thrilled as paparazzi clicked away. The "Family Guy" overlord-slash-Peter Brady doppelganger, meanwhile, stayed several feet away from her, although he couldn't hide the wide smile on his face (his interior monologue was likely set to the voice of Peter Griffin and went something like, "Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!").
Theron, 37, was first linked to MacFarlane, 39, after they worked together on the Oscars (he hosted; she danced onstage during his opening number).
"Charlize finds Seth to be a great guy who not only makes her laugh but has so much on the ball," a source tattled to the Chicago Sun-Times in late February.
But insiders have insisted the two are just pals, and the actress recently signed on to co-star in MacFarlane's soon-to-film comedy, "A Million Ways to Die in the West," which means their sushi meet-up could have been more business than pleasure.
Still, both are single: Seth called it quits last month with "Game of Thrones" beauty Emilia Clarke, while Charlize has sidestepped a serious commitment since splitting with longtime love Stuart Townsend in early 2010.
But a source assures E! News they are definitely "not dating," adding (presumably with a straight face), "She is not his type."
"I'm not somebody who has to go home and talk about theoretical physics at the end of a day when I've already been wringing my brain dry," MacFarlane told the New Yorker last year of his starlet-stuffed dating history, including an apparent dalliance with Amanda Bynes in 2008. "I don't necessarily look for an intellectual equal. I'd rather have somebody whose company excites me. That's what my father had."
