SHE READS: What Smart Black Chicks You Should Know This Week

No, President Obama’s performance at the first presidential debate wasn’t anything to write home about, but according to Michelle Obama, President Obama showed up and did what he needed to do with such a poise and genuine honesty that she couldn’t do anything but be proud of him.
FLOTUS is in a small club with that one because instead of being upset with Romney for wanting to give him the axe, Big Bird is upset with President Obama! The nerve! Check out both of these stories and more–all a part of stories smart black chicks should be aware of this week. As always, you’re welcome.
1. Big Bird Is Mad At President Obama, Not Romney
Ok so we recently found out that one of Mitt Romney’s first orders of duty would be to fire Big Bird along with the rest of his PBS friends, but it seems that Big Bird’s not even mad at Romney for that. He’s mad at President Obama! The Sesame Workshop, which runs “Sesame Street,” put out a statement earlier this week asking the Obama campaign to take down an ad that features Big Bird. The ad mocks Romney’s vow to end PBS, making Big Bird look like a criminal.
George Zimmerman’s brother, Robert Zimmerman, Jr. has taken a cue from the rest of the Zimmerman clan and hopped on Twitter to voice his disdain with his brother’s trail. He directed messages like these to Natalie Jackson, one of the Martin family’s lawyers:
Robert’s always been an active supporter of his brother and has now started a media tour, including Piers Morgan, as well as a few Spanish-speaking stations. It seems Zimmerman’s attorney, Mark O’Mara would shut Robert’s diarrhea of the mouth, but O’Mara says that he can’t control Robert.
Stacey Dash is not new to bad press. The stunning actress is always making headlines for being difficult to work with, being fired and the like. Her latest headlines label her a Republican in full support of Romney. Dash’s support was shunned by many people on Black Twitter and it led to the question: What makes some black Republicans more accepted in the black community than others?
Our brother site, NewsOne was hand-picked to be a part of an intimate interview with the FLOTUS. During the interview, Michelle opened up about how she felt about the debate, why Black women are so important to this election and issues that Black women should be monitoring when it comes to politics. 4. Michelle Obama Stands By Her Man
The feud between music mavens Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj seems to be more for ratings for the flailing “American Idol” than an actual argument. While I would obviously be #TeamMiMi, I find it interesting that other black journalists think Mariah’s playing both sides of the race card deck.
